These stations WILL accept the following:
- Opened mail & greeting cards
- Paper egg cartons
- Paperboard boxes
- File Folders
- Shredded paper
- Magazines, brochures & catalogs
- White or pastel office paper
- Newspapers & inserts
- Phone books
- Cans (do not crush)
- #1-7 Plastic tubs & screw-top jars, tubs, and plastic bottles (remove lids)
- Clean, balled aluminum foil and pie pans
- Pizza boxes
- Loose metal jar lids & steel bottle caps
- Flattened corrugated cardboard & paper bags
- Paper milk/juice cartons
- Paper & Hard-back books
- Empty aerosol cans (no caps)
There's no need to remove paper clips, stamps, address labels, staples, tape, wire, metal fasteners, rubber bands, spiral bindings, or plastic tabs.
Please empty and rinse all containers, but do not flatten.
THE DIRTY DOZEN
The following list reflects the worst recycling contaminants that can NOT go into the recycling bin:
- NO Plastic Bags: These are the WORST contaminant in the recycling bin and can be recycled at places such as Wal-Mart, but not here at SPM.
- NO Materials in Plastic Bags: Don't put your recyclables in plastic bags; please empty contents into bin.
- NO Plastic lids or caps: please remove from plastic bottles
- NO GLASS OF ANY KIND
- NO Liquids
- NO Ceramics
- NO Diapers or Bio-Hazardous Waste such as needles or syringes
- NO Hazardous Waste such as paint, automotive fluids, batteries, or pesticides
- NO Scrap Metal of any kind
- NO Frozen food boxes: These were designed with a plastic polymer to protect the food against freezer burn and is not recyclable or compostable.
- NO light bulbs, plates or vases
- NO Tissues, paper towels, or napkins
